My Approach

I use a pluralistic approach to counselling which simply means I work together, with you, to find a way that best suits you, to express whatever difficulty it is you are facing. We will regularly review our work together to ensure you are getting what you need from the space. Ultimately, therapy is a commitment from both myself, as the Therapist, to you and from you, as the Client, to yourself and our work together.

My Experience

My independent practice is based just off Heathfield high street where I work both long-term and short-term with adults and young people (13yrs+) who are experiencing a wide range of mental health issues. In addition to my practice, I also work for East Sussex County Council as a secondary school Counsellor in Battle.

Prior to growing my independent practice, I worked long-term with adults and adolescents for the Horsham & Crawley Counselling Group, where I became Co-Clinical Lead for their Parent, Adolescent and Child Team, overseeing adolescent assessments and clinical allocations to the other Counsellors on the team.

I enjoy the challenge and variety of working with both adults and young people and believe having continued experience working with both client groups facilitates richness within the work I do with my clients.

Prior to undertaking my counselling training, I was a volunteer listener for Samaritans.

My Qualifications

I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I abide by their ethical framework and receive regular supervision to ensure I practice safely. I have completed 5 years foundational training to attain the following qualifications:

  • Advanced Specialist Training in Counselling Children & Young People (L5 CPCAB - Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body)

  • Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling - Person-Centred (L4 CPCAB)

  • Certificate in Counselling Studies (L3 CPCAB)

  • Certificate in Counselling Skills (Westminster Pastoral Foundation - Psychodynamic)

I am on the enhanced DBS check update service for child and adult work and renew my safeguarding training on a yearly basis. I am dedicated to my own ongoing learning, not only to meet the professional requirements of my registration but for my own personal development. I believe that, in doing this, I am better placed to co-create a solid, therapeutic relationship with you as my client.
